I got stripes.

I am still on the fence about how this all came together. It's what I would call an 'experimental' outfit, trot it out see what needs to be tweaked, how I would wear it differently next time what elements need to be changed etc. I bought this skirt before Christmas and have been dying to wear it...well once I remembered I purchased it. Its a pale bluish-grey almost the color of concrete and because of this weird color I've found it for some odd reason a hard color choice and I usually never have issues pairing colors.

I love airy fabrics and tend to gravitate towards silk. I like the feel of wearing it and here with our dry heat, keeps you cool. Plus silk comes in such a vast array of finishes or knit and I like to keep a contrast in fabric types. I had been in the market for a striped tee for ages. I love the resurgence of the striped/breton trend that has lasted a couple seasons, but I hadn't found anything I really liked. I have even chased down people in awesome striped shirts ..only to hear it was purchased years ago etc. Plus I was really leaning towards navy stripes.

So one boring Sunday morning a couple months back I found myself on shopstyle.com, tabbing through image after image of navy 'striped' tees in search of that intangible t-shirt. On there I spotted this shirt from Banana Republic, 3 navy stripes,  it was silk and even better...on sale. I am all about instant gratification I got up, got dressed, hopped in my car and drove to the Grove to see if it was there.

After some "no I don't need help" frantic riffling through the sales rack I came across the last one. In petite. In small.

....but this is Banana Republic...so you and I both know that BR = HUGE

The icing on the cake was the sales associate passing out sales code postcards. Luckily my code on my postcard was 30%, so it made the sale even cheaper. I skipped out happily.

I love the layered apron effect of the skirt but I do need to have it taken in at the waist. I tend to size up for length and my butt but then the item is too big and it goes on the "take it to the tailor" list which never happens. The jean jacket is a few years old, and I know the contrast cross hatch stitching isn't current... But it's a good fit and comfortable and I'm still making the effort to wear what I have and see how I can recycle/remix it in.

Weird awkward pose. no clue what I was doing.

 Color is peacock.
